Despite facing indictment in Fulton County related to his attempts to overturn the election results in Georgia, former President Donald Trump continues to maintain a lead over his Republican competitors in the state, as indicated by the latest poll conducted by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The poll surveyed 807 likely Republican primary voters in Georgia about their preferences for the presidential primary.
Trump garnered significant support with 57 percent of the vote, positioning him ahead of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who trailed with 15 percent. A notable portion of voters, around 14 percent, remained undecided. Other Republican candidates, including former Vice President Mike Pence, Vivek Ramaswamy, Tim Scott, Nikki Haley, Chris Christie, and Francis Suarez, struggled to gain traction, not surpassing single-digit percentages.
The poll also revealed that in a hypothetical head-to-head race between Trump and DeSantis, the former president maintained a commanding lead of 33 percentage points over the Florida governor, according to the AJC’s report.
