Donald Trump’s legal defense during an interview with NBC’s Kristen Welker on “Meet The Press” was deemed “twofer” by legal experts. Trump claimed that it was his decision to challenge the 2020 election result, not that of his lawyers. However, some legal experts argue that Trump listened to some people who said the election was rigged.
Harvard constitutional law professor Laurence Tribe said Trump “just threw his whole ‘following my lawyers’ advice’ defense under the bus.” Former acting Solicitor General Neal Katyal agreed, stating that Trump’s comment made U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan’s election obstruction case easier. Former federal prosecutor Andrew Weissmann explained that Trump’s admission was a twofer,” as he also admitted to demanding the votes stop being counted.
