- Die-hard Trump supporters are threatening to kill former Vice President Mike Pence — again.
- The calls for violence were made on “The Donald,” a popular internet forum for Trump supporters.
- “Everyone gets a swing at the abdomen. Stray dogs clean up the mess,” said one person on the forum.
It’s been more than two years since supporters of former President Donald Trump chanted ‘hang Mike Pence’ during the Capitol riot. But when Trump was indicted this week, those violent calls to kill Pence rang out again — this time on “The Donald,” a popular extremist pro-Trump internet forum.
One of the top threads on the forum centered on Pence’s Tuesday tweet about Trump’s latest indictment. In that tweet, Pence took a swipe at Trump, and argued that “anyone who puts himself over the Constitution should never be President of the United States.”
In response, the commentators on “The Donald” went wild, floating renewed — and explicit — death threats against Pence.
“He knows he’s not going to get elected. His only goal is to take any votes away that he possibly can. He got his ticket into the club when he got that challenge coin after they certified the fraudulent election at 1am on January 7th,” one person wrote on the thread. “I want to watch his toes dangle in the breeze.”
“I favor the Day of the Axe. Everyone gets a swing at the abdomen. Stray dogs clean up the mess,” wrote another person.
“The Donald” is best known as a hub for Trump fans and extremists, who often use it to spout violent rhetoric against the former President’s rivals. The online forum was initially hosted on Reddit before it was banned from the platform in June 2020. According to the final report on the Capitol riot by the House January 6 committee, The Donald forum users “openly discussed surrounding and occupying the U.S. Capitol.”
The spike in calls for violence against Pence came after Trump was indicted on Tuesday. On Thursday, Trump was arraigned at a courthouse in Washington, D.C., and pleaded not guilty to four criminal charges in relation to the Capitol riot.
Pence, for his part, has had a strained relationship with Trump ever since he defied Trump, and certified the 2020 vote. Pence’s life was also in danger on January 6, 2021, when pro-Trump rioters storming the Capitol almost got to him, per The Washington Post.
A representative for Pence did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Insider sent outside regular business hours.
