The Republican National Committee (RNC) is facing a fundraising issue as it prepares for the 2024 run for the White House and Senate. With a deficit of less than $12 million, the RNC has dropped from $80.5 million at the start of the 2022 midterm cycle to $11.8 million, less than half of the Democratic National Committee’s $25.4 million.
The committee’s fundraising has declined due to Trump’s lack of influence with donors and the support of Republican primary challengers. In 2019, the RNC had $46.6 million, which is four times the current amount. The committee raised over $335 million in the 2021-2022 midterm cycle, but has only raised about $50.8 million this year. Despite outraising the Democratic National Committee by $30 million, the RNC’s spending on legal costs, fees, and service payments has amounted to $401.4 million, surpassing the DNC total by over $85 million. This lack of funding has left many RNC members concerned about the party’s financial future ahead of 2024.
